How long have you been doing what you do and how did you get to be a Sales and Marketing Expert?

Cut me in two and I have Sales and Marketing running through my veins. It’s my love and my passion! My joy for selling started in my early teens, selling cosmetics and jewellery to friends and family.

My first “proper job” was with Barclays Bank as a junior bank clerk. Not too much selling required then but the bank soon realised that selling was absolutely necessary to grow their business. So as you can imagine I was in my element and embraced the new sales era with gusto.

A business opportunity arose when a clothes wholesaler, a customer of the bank, invited the staff to visit his warehouse, to buy their clothes at cost price. I visited every Sunday morning and after a few months, realised that many of my friends were commenting on my clothes and I spotted an opportunity for a little business.

I borrowed £500 and bought some stock and started selling on a “Party Plan” basis, my first business was launched… Even in those early days, when I had no real idea of what I should be doing, I realised the importance of looking after my customer base and generated both repeat and referral business.

How easy was moving into the corporate world?

Still successfully selling my clothes and working in the Bank two days a week, I was approached by the Financial Services division of the bank and was asked to consider becoming a Financial Adviser.

To cut a long story short, I went for an interview, got the job but was asked to sign a disclaimer saying that I would give up all other aspects of selling i.e. Clothes.

I think they were worried that if I didn’t sell a life assurance policy or investment,I would get out my range of T shirts,etc…haha.I progressed from Financial Adviser to Team Manager within 9 months and a few years later was promoted to Regional Director.I was responsible for 7 managers and 70 advisers, as well as being responsible for the Financial Services target for all of the bank branches in the Region.

I was recognised as:

  • Top Trainee of the Year
  • Top Field Sales Manager
  • Top Regional Director

I won 13 qualifying international conferences in the role of Team Manager and Regional Sales Director. I was consistently in the top 5% within the country and enjoyed “Top Spot” in 1998. My philosophy is very simple,

I continuously, communicated, presented, trained and coached my teams to produce phenomenal results. I produced a myriad of sales tools to find ways to:-

  • Attract more high quality customers
  • Increase conversion rates from appointment to sale
  • Increase average sale values
  • Increase the life time value of customers through implementing outstanding after sales strategies

Why change from corporate sales and marketing to SMEs?

In 1999 I left the corporate world and set up my own business as a Sales and Sales Management Consultant/Trainer. I put all of my sales and marketing principles into place.

Without any contacts, I made appointments with Senior Decision Makers and subsequently worked with businesses such as:

Barclays Bank, Barclaycard, Aviva, Zurich, Thornton’s PLC, Generali Bank, HSBC, Royal Mail, National Grid, Pepe Jeans, Ev3, Improvision, to name but a few of the large corporates that I have worked with.

I also secured a position with The Chartered Institute of Marketing as Course Director and associate to the Academy. I still do some work with International Companies but the majority is now in the SME market, which I absolutely love…

What happens if you haven’t yet worked with people in my field?

I have worked with thousands of Business Owners and Sales People who sell to bigger businesses, in a wide range of industries.I will most likely have worked with people in your field. Yet, I have to share with you that if I haven’t, you are not at a disadvantage, quite to the contrary.

Here’s why: people in your field are probably ALL doing the similar things to attract, convert and retain new clients. What my current and former clients have found exceedingly helpful is that I bring an extremely fresh perspective to their Sales and Marketing process and give them resources they’d never heard of in their field. Because of this, they stand out in an overcrowded marketplace and are the ones who start getting the clients.

How are you different from other “business coaches?”

There are two distinct differences that set me apart from other Sales and Marketing coaches.

I started my own business from scratch, no contacts, no network, no help from agencies. In my first year of being self-employed I earned as much as I had in my very highly paid corporate job. I am not teaching theory from a book, I’ve done it, I know what works as it works in my business and the in the businesses of my many clients and students.
Unlike many other business coaches I teach both; Attraction and Conversion of high paying business clients.

WHY?

Because it is no good being great at attracting lots of leads or enquiries if you can’t have a professional sales conversation that converts them into high paying clients.

Neither is it any good at being great at converting leads and enquiries into sales if you don’t have enough ideal prospective clients filling your appointment book in the first place.

Because of this what you get with me is no-nonsense, undiluted expertise, for those people selling to bigger businesses. I’ve travelled the world to learn from the best. I am continually learning to make sure I bring up to date strategies and best practices to my clients. And that’s why my clients get great results ( I also throw in a healthy dose of motivation, inspiration, humour and encouragement, which ALWAYS helps!).

What type of personality do you work best with and what is expected of me?

My workshops, products and programs were created for people who are absolutely excited and deadly serious about getting more clients and ending what I call “the 3:00 a.m. sweats”, meaning, not waking up in the middle of the night anymore saying, “how will I get more clients, how will I make more sales, how will I make more money, how will I pay my employees/bills/suppliers etc”

They were created to help you attract and convert more of your ideal business clients quicker and easier than you ever will on your own.

Being a high achieving go-getter myself, I’m known to work best with other high achieving go-getters who are ready to get going and just want to know exactly what steps to take to get clients.

What type of professional are your programmes not going to work?

Please know I’m very selective in who I work with and I cherry-pick my clients. Choosing to (gently) turn away people who aren’t suited for my programs. Knowing they won’t get the results for which they would have signed up for. (It wouldn’t be fair to them.)

My programs are NOT for those who have no money coming in and are absolutely, financially desperate, at least not right away. It’s been my experience that people in financial crisis do not trust the recommendations I give them and do not do the work (probably because they spend so much time worrying about where they are going to get the money for next months rent or mortgage payment.)

Another type of person I don’t work with (without exception) is the whiner or the chronic skeptic, as well as individuals who consistently make excuses for not getting their assignments done or challenging every aspect of the program. If you are one of these people, I gently and respectfully ask that you not call and I hope you understand why. We’ll probably just not work well together and I wouldn’t want you to waste your time or money. Is that fair?

In this programme we schedule 3 calls per month to get you on track and speeding through the process of building your client base. I roll up my sleeves and get in the trenches with you, to work on each assignment and give you the crucial feedback and tools you need to get moving quickly, After every assignment send me your work and I will critique each piece, rewrite if necessary and send back to you with amendments.

The programme is flexible and I will discuss any other topic throughout the programme. So, if you have a specific situation that needs my help, I will support you with the advice and tools required at that point.

What does the Platinum Programme include?

  • 3 x 45 minute Skype calls per month (this is flexible and if you prefer 2 longer sessions then we can arrange that as we go)
  • Templates for Client Profile, Value Proposition, Elevator Pitch, Website, Speaking engagements, Email, Letter, Telephone Conversation, Sales Conversation, Handling Objections, Referrals. Any other elements that are required throughout the process
  • Example templates To make it easy I give you my completed templates of all of the templates mentioned above. This will make your learning even easier because you can model what I give you.

Gold Coaching Programme (Advanced)

Who is the gold programme for?

This 6 months option is also for the high achiever, who wants to take the process in increasing their client base a little slower. In this programme we schedule 3 calls per month to get you on track and speeding through the process of building your client base. I still roll up my sleeves and get in the trenches with you, to work on each assignment and give you the crucial feedback and tools you need to get moving quickly but there is no additional critique. The programme is flexible and I will discuss any other topic throughout the programme. So, if you have a specific situation that needs my help, I will support you with the advice and tools required at that point.

What does the Gold Programme include?

  • 3 x 45 minute Skype calls per month (this is flexible and if you prefer 2 longer sessions then we can arrange that as we go)

The Silver Coaching Programme (Maintenance)

Who is the Silver Programme for:

Created for “graduates” who have completed at least 6 months in one of the other programs . For those who feel they’ve done most of the groundwork and simply need occasional maintenance. Not recommended for beginners, as there’s more work to be done to gain fast momentum.

What does the Silver option include:

  • 2 x 30 minute Skype calls per month
  • Recording of all calls which can be referred to in the future

This program includes strategising, collaborating and brainstorming with me on any issues or assignments that come up but you don’t need to speak as often as the other two programmes.

How long is each program?

A business traditionally gets consistently full in 3 or more years.
Expect a fraction of that when working with me (especially with the Fast Track Program.)
Clients take a minimum of 6 months of working together to apply all the steps, sometimes longer, and enjoy a substantial (often dramatic) increase in their number of clients and income.
Remember though, this is only for people who are truly serious about getting results.

How will we work together and what does the program entail?

We will have our calls over Skype, where we can see each other. This is the next best option to a face to face meeting. It saves you time as you don’t have to travel to meet me. All calls are recorded and that recording will be placed in your folder, just for you, so you can access them at any time into the future.

All worksheets and templates will be sent to you with accompanying examples of EVERYTHING. I will go through each segment thoroughly so you have a deep understanding of the concepts and principles of the “What, Why and How” Then we will move on to the next step.

You will be given an assignment at the end of each session, I will review your work and we will practice to give you the confidence you need to go out and implement on your own.

You will set actions that you will commit to carrying out before the next call. If you get stuck, I will help you get unstuck.

I will be the person you are accountable to. I will be the “wind beneath your wings” helping you every step of the way to achieving your goals.
